What ATM Truth actually knows
Beta V1.0. Every figure in the app is labelled known, estimated or unknown — and today almost everything about ATM costs is honestly unknown. This page explains exactly why.
Map locations real · fee data unknown
The map is a real interactive OpenStreetMap canvas and finds ATM machines mapped near your device or a place you search. Every one is shown with fee and conversion data unknown. ATM Truth holds no verified surcharge, conversion or true-cost dataset for any machine in any country.
Camera capture live · screen reading live in beta
Capture starts only when you press the camera button and prefers the rear lens. The photo is sent once to a vision service, is not stored by ATM Truth, and every detected value must be confirmed or corrected. Unclear values stay blank. Card numbers, PINs, CVVs and account numbers are never collected.
Community impact · aggregate counters live
Registered users, Truth Checks, recorded ATM screens, community reports and confirmed savings are real aggregate totals read from the ATM Truth backend, including zero. Savings are user-confirmed and no personal data is exposed.
10-country launch scope · field data collection open in 6
Beta field-data collection is open in Mexico, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Thailand, Indonesia (Bali). Travellers can record real ATM screens, fees and conversion offers. There is no verified ATM-level coverage in any of them yet. Turkey, Vietnam, Colombia and Japan remain research scope.
Not yet live
A verified ATM fee database, issuer foreign-transaction and ATM fees, any per-card total cost, card-network exchange rates, and savings verified against transaction records. An unknown cost is never treated as zero and never estimated for you.
